The ON24 Video Builder allows you to create videos from one or more media files such as video clips, and images. Set up branding, templates, and add content to create videos you can use in your Engagement Hubs, Target Content Experiences, or download for use elsewhere.
You can access the Video Builder from the Platform Tools drop-down, or from the Video Projects button in the Media Manager.
Things to Know
- Video Builder is an additional option you can add to your account - reach out to your Account Manger for more details.
- The Video Builder uses Google Cloud Storage solutions to store any uploaded content and all the videos produced inside the app, as well as the content imported from the Media Manager. All of the assets are transferred and accessed via secure connections.

- The editor is designed for short clips, so when starting with a lengthy video, it is best to cut into smaller segments.

Projects Tab
This is the home screen for your Video Builder. Here you'll find quick start Templates and the library of all your video projects.
Use the search bar to search your library or sort the projects using the sort button. You can also create a new video from here.
Click on the project in your library to access the video project for editing and publishing.
Once you have videos in your library, you can click on the three dot menu to rename, copy, delete, or view all the videos in this project.
The Copy option creates a copy of the entire original project with all files inside. This is a quick way to create a new version from an existing video without over-writing the original video project. It can be a great way to create your own templates for videos.
You can also add labels to your projects to help organize your library. Click on Edit Labels to add or edit an existing label, or add a new one.
Content Tab
Add content to your Content Library so you have resources available when creating and editing videos.
The Content Library functions as an automatic backup of all media files used in video projects. You can also upload directly to to content, create a folder structure, etc.
Click on the Content tab to add media. Drag and drop from your network or click Browse to add files this way. Files added here will be available for use when creating your videos.
Supported File Formats

- Note: This tool does not support documents or website (HTML) files
Pro Tip: If you would like to use content from your Media Manager, we recommend downloading the item from the Media Manager first, then uploading it to the Content Library in Video Builder, for quicker access in your Video Projects.
Once the content has been added, you can organize it into folders and sub-folders. Click on New Folder to create a new folder.
Drag and drop the content from the list to the folder you want it to live in. To move multiply files, click Select Files, choose the files you want, then choose Move.
You can also rename or delete files from here.
Click on an existing folder to see the content with in it or create sub-folders. Click the home icon to move back to the Content Library.
Search through your content using the search bar. And click the sort or layout buttons to sort the content and toggle between grid or list layout.
Branding Tab
Setting the Brand should be one of the first steps when using the Video Builder. Matching your company colors and having access to them set in the Branding section will provide easy access once you begin working on a video project.
You can create up to 3 brand profiles to use in your videos. Brand Profile 1 is the default brand and has pre-populated branding that can be updated as needed.
Click +New Brand to add additional profiles. You can rename the profiles if desired by clicking the pencil icon.
Once created, you'll be able to select which brand you want to use in the Project Settings toolbar of each video project.
Color, Logos, & Fonts
Palette
- The Palette comes with preloaded color, which can be changed by clicking on the color tile and selecting one of the colors in the color picker or by using a Hex Code or RGB values
- The colors selected here will be available on colored slides added to the video and for background color options on Text Elements and Name Tags
- Black and White will be listed by default and cannot be deleted
- Your main brand color should be added as the Primary color - it cannot be a light color
- Add additional colors by clicking +Add
Logos
- Upload logos to use in your videos
- Use high resolution JPG or PNG files - PNG files with transparent backgrounds are preferred
- Watermark logos appear throughout the video - once uploaded, select the size and placement
- Outro logos appear at the end of videos - once uploaded select the size and background color
Fonts
- Click the text boxes to choose the font for your main messages/text and for your subtitle/name tags
- You can also upload your own font - accepted file formats are OTF, TTF, WOFF, and WOFF2
Text Styles
- Choose the text and box color for blocks, subtitles, and name tags
- Use the sample image to preview your changes
Animations
- Select one animation for your text and one animation for your clip transitions
Video Project Interface
To create a new video, click on Create New Video from the Projects tab. Once created, video projects will automatically save to your Projects library. Or click on an existing project to continue editing. Both will take you to the Video Project Interface.
1. Project Settings
- Project Menu - allows you to copy, delete, edit labels, or see the videos available in this project
- Branding - choose the brand profile you'd like to use for this video here or add watermarks/outro logos.
- Formats - select the layout/aspect ratio for your video
2. Project Name - each new video will be named automatically. Click the pencil icon to update.
3. Slide Overview - each piece of content you add to the video project will show here.
4. Content Features - lets you access content to add to the video.
5. Creation Features - use these options to add text/name tags, zoom, or update the image fit mode, cut video, add captions, or update volume. Each content type has its own set of options.
6. Slider Bar - use this bar to adjust the length of this piece of content.
7. Play - click here to see your full video.
Creating New Videos
Once in the Video Project Interface, add the content you'd like to use in this video. You can drag and drop files from your network into the project, or use the options in the Content Features section. You can also add background music for the entire video if you'd like.
1. Media Manager - this content comes from your Media Manager
- When using content here, it will automatically add itself to the My Library section before showing in the Slides Overview. It can take a bit to show while the content converts.
- Be aware that not all media shown in the Media Manager section will be available for use.
- Click the i icon to see the name of the content.
- Items labeled Key Moments are groups of recordings and can not be imported. The individual Key Moment Recordings begin with Recording and are the individual clips that can be used.
- If you are having trouble with the Media Manager view and identifying the appropriate content you you may find a simpler way to use Key Moments is to download the video file and upload it to your Content Library.

Click here to add a solid or gradient color slide to your video to use as a background for text. This can be a visual way to summarize or create chapters.
Color options available here will be based on the Branding profile selected in Project Settings.
To create gradients with the brand color options, click on +Add under Gradients. Select the two colors you'd like to use by clicking on the arrows in the slider bar, then the color. Drag the arrows in the slider bar to adjust the gradient. You can also update the location of the gradient and the amount of gradient.
Click here to start a camera or screen recording to add to your video. Find more information in the Recording tab.
To add another slide/additional content to the video, click the +sign in the Slide Overview section. Rearrange the order of the slides by clicking and dragging a slide to its desired location.
You can also click on the three dot menu at the top of a slide to duplicate, delete, or replace.
The Outro Logo added to your brand profile will show by default. Click the Outro tile to move to the Brand section if you want to make updates. Toggle this option OFF if you do not want an outro.
Recording Videos in the Video Builder
The Recording Options will give you three panels to choose your recording method - Camera Recording, Screen Recording, or Screen + Camera Recording.
In order record you must allow your browser access to your camera and microphone.
Click Record to begin recording your video. If you're recording your screen, you will also need to choose a window, browser tab, or your entire screen to record.
Begin recording after the countdown. Use the Camera and Mic buttons to update your choices. Click the X if you want to choose one of the other recording options.
If you're using the Screen + Camera Recording option, you can also update where the camera feed shows using the button or update the size of the camera window using the
button.
While you're recording, click Pause to pause the recording and Stop when you're done.
After you're done recording, click Play to review the video.
If you are pleased with the recording, click Use Video to add it to the Slides Overview section, where it can be selected and further edited in your project.
Editing Videos
Once you have all the elements you want in your video added to the Slides Overview section, you can start editing.
Click on the tile in the Slides Overview to edit that element. Click and drag the element to re-order.
Each element will have a toolbar on the side, allowing you to add things like text, or adjust the volume of the background music for that element.
Use the handlebars in slider bar at the bottom of the element to adjust the length. Click the Play button here to preview this slide. You can also use the Play button at the very bottom of the screen to review the complete video project.
For color elements, use the toolbar on the side to:
- Add text elements
- Change the background color used
- Adjust the volume of the background music for this slide, if using background music
If you add text, you'll also have a text toolbar where you can update the alignment, text size, text/box color, and turn animations on or off.
Each color tile will have a default length of 3 seconds. Click and drag the handlebars on the slider bar to adjust the amount of time the slide shows. If you have added a text element to the slide, you'll also be able to adjust the amount of time and when the text shows.
For image elements, you can update the following using the toolbar:
- Add text - use the text toolbar to update text/box color, text size, etc.
- Change the alignment of the image
- Add name tags - styling of name tags is built out in the Brand tab of the Video Builder
- Change the image fit - expand to fill or shrink to fit
- Enable or disable zoom in and out
- Change the volume of the background music, if using
Each image slide will have a default length of 3 seconds. Click and drag the handlebars on the slider bar to adjust the amount of time the slide shows. If you have added a text element to the slide, you'll also be able to adjust the amount of time and when the text shows.
For video elements, you can update the following using the toolbar:
- Add text - use the text toolbar to update text/box color, text size, etc.
- Change the alignment of the image
- Add name tags - styling of name tags is built out in the Brand tab of the Video Builder
- Change the image fit - expand to fill or shrink to fit
- Add subtitles
- Cut video
- Change the volume of the video and of the background music, if using
To edit the video, you can use the slider bar to adjust the length from the beginning or the end. You can also use the Cut Video option in the toolbar to edit.
Click the scissor icon in the toolbar and a pink marker will appear over the timeline. Move the marker where you want to cut and click. This will remove everything in the video after the maker. The remaining portion of the video will be added to the Slides Overview as another element.
Use the slider bar to stretch the cut portion to include more or less of the original clip if needed.
Finishing Videos
Once you've created your video and everything is set how you want, click Finish. Finished videos will appear in the project page.
Anytime you edit an existing video project, you can click Finish again and a new version of the video will appear in the project page. Click on Videos to see all videos/GIFs for this project.
Once the project has rendered, you can click Publish to Media Manager to add the video to your Media Manager for use in Engagement Hubs and Target Content Experiences. You will also be able to download the video or convert to a GIF.
Creating GIFs
Finished Videos populated on the project's page will have a Convert to GIF button.
When Convert to GIF is clicked, use the slider tool to select which portion of the video to use for the GIF.
A maximum of 20 seconds can be selected from the video.
Below the slider, you can enter a number for how many times you want the GIF to loop. Leaving the field empty will allow the GIF to loop continuously. Click Convert video to GIF to finish.
A new GIF file will be created in the Video Project and will be noted with a GIF icon. Once rendered, you can download the file.

If you have a particular slide selected in the Slides Overview section of the Video Project interface and you click on new media in the Content Features section, the new file will automatically import to the selected slide.
Make sure to click on the right slide to make changes or add a new slide before importing new media files. Then drag the slides into the correct order.
You can update the volume on your video using the volume icon in the element toolbar. You can update the volume of the video itself or the background music on each slide of your video independently.
