The Take Action by Segment tool is based on the standard Take Action tool, but is more powerful. The Take Action by Segment tool allows you to target different segments of your attendees so you can deliver more personalized and relevant experiences.
Things to Know
- Segments must be created before the tool is set up
- The order of the content matters when an attendee qualifies to see more than one version of the tool - they will be shown the content that is ordered highest.
- Make sure your event is set up to capture the data your segment is looking for
-
A common use case is to show different content based upon attendee registration information.
- For example, if you capture attendees’ industry on the registration form, then you can configure this tool so that an attendee in industry X can be shown one tool, while an attendee in industry Y can be shown a different tool.
- It's important that all registration fields in all your ON24 products are the same, to ensure your segments are shown the correct information and that data is passed correctly.
- Find more information on registration mapping here.
- Standard Take Action tools saved in the Library can be used in the Take Action by Segment tool, but Take Action by Segment tools cannot be saved to the library.
Set Up
Add the Take Action by Segment tool to the Console in the Console Builder tab of your event, via the Tools Manager.
Once added, click on the gear icon to open the Configuration, select Personalized Content then click on Add Content.
This tool will be styled just like the standard Take Action tool.
Configure the action, background color, image, and button and text styling.
You can also use the Add from Library option to choose an existing Take Action tool configuration.
Once the tool is styled, choose which segment will see this version of the tool.
Click on the Select Segment section to see the available choices and check the desired segments. When you're done, click Save.
Click Add Content to configure another version that you want to target to a different segment.
Click the arrow icons to put the versions in priority order.
Note: The order of the content matters when an attendee qualifies to see more than one version of the tool - they will be shown the content that is ordered highest.
You can also use the pencil icon to edit a version, or the trash can to delete a version.
Fallback Option
Click on Fallback Option to set up a version that will be displayed to attendees that do not belong to any of the segments that will see the Personalized Content.
The fallback option will be set up the same way, except there will not be an option to choose a segment.
