Learn how to navigate the chat and polls tabs in Go Live.
A chat and polls box will appear on the right side of the screen in the Auditorium, Exhibit Hall, and Lounge areas. For this example, we are in the Auditorium area in a Breakout session.
Chat
Attendees can type messages into the chat or answer the polling questions. There are several different features in the chat area.
During Go Live events there are multiple chat channels available (assuming chat is enabled), one for the overall event (Event Chat) one for the session (breakout or keynote) you are attending (Session Chat), and one to direct chat with other attendees (Direct Chat). Navigation tabs appear at the bottom-right.
Selecting the “Direct” button in the bottom-right navigation bar allows you to chat directly with another participant.
Click on the “Attendees” tab in the bottom-right navigation bar to see all attendees in the session.
Polls
As a participant to respond to a session poll, click the “Polls” tab in the top right of the screen. Click the purple “Take” button.
Select your answer and click the purple “Submit” button.
After the poll is submitted, the results will appear (if the poll has been configured to display the results by the moderator or presenter).
You can click the show/hide toggle button in the toolbar to hide the chat sidebar.
The direct chat feature has a small “X” button to close.
Pre-Event and Post-Event Chat
Attendees have the ability to participate in chat activities before and/or after an event takes place. Event organizers and attendees can connect and engage prior to an event's first live day and registrants can network prior to the start of an actual event. There is also a communication channel after the live portion of an event has concluded.
When enabled, event-level chat will be available for all attendees to participate in at any time prior to an event’s scheduled start day/time or after the scheduled conclusion of a live event (until the replay is scheduled to expire).
Steps for Pre and/or Post-Event Chat:
- To configure pre and/or post-event chat, an admin simply needs to enable/disable the applicable toggle(s) in the Features panel of the Overview page .
- Visitors will then have access to the chat panel when viewing the Agenda page (before an event) or the Replay page (after an event).
Hiding the Polls and Chat tabs
If Chat has been disabled on the Overview page and there are no poll questions set up for the session, the Chat and /or Polls tabs will not appear.
