Backfill definition for data integration
A backfill is the process of obtaining historical records for your end system. Examples of historical records include people who registered for an event, people who attended an event, and their engagement activities.
You may be interested in a backfill when your data integration setup is complete. An example of a backfill use case is to obtain registrant or attendance data prior to your integration completion. For instance, let’s say your data integration was completed on January 1, 2022. You may want to receive the registrant and attendee records that occurred back in December 2021.
How far back the backfill can go and who can run it will vary by end system. We encourage you to visit the Supported Integrations article and click on your end system for more information.
