Things to Know

• Only those logged into Elite Studio as Producer can add or edit poll questions.
• Polls pushed during the lobby period will not capture results in the ON24 reporting.
• Once a webcast is completed, poll questions should not be edited or deleted. Doing so will remove the poll results from the ON24 report.
• Responses to all questions can be viewed in the Interactions Report after the event.

Creating Poll Questions

Once you're logged into Elite Studio as a Producer, open Setup from the Menu, then click on the Polls tab. Click Add Poll to add a question - you can create a new question or choose a question from the library.

To delete a poll, click the trash can icon.

• Single Answer - allows viewers to check a single checkbox to confirm they are engaged in the event
• Free Text - allows viewers to enter a text response
• NPS Rating - a customer satisfaction metric based on responses to questions like "How likely is it that you would recommend X?"

Polls can be configured for display in the Slide Window or in a Popup Window.  See below for examples.

If you're using Popup Window,  choose a Duration for the popup from the dropdown.

• Choose an amount of time the popup window will display and be available for the attendee to respond to the poll.
• If the Duration is set to Off the popup poll question will appear on the audience console until it is either responded to or dismissed/closed by attendees.
• You can also check Play Audio Alert to audibly notify attendees a poll has been pushed into view.

Questions and Answers

Enter your poll question and answer options (if applicable, depending on the question type chosen).  Use the Add Answer button to add additional answer options.  Use Exclude From Results if you don't the results shown to attendees.

• Poll questions are limited to 1,200 characters, including spaces
• Answers to multiple-choice questions are limited to 256 characters

Poll Styling

Use the color picker or enter a Hex Value.  This will set the colors for all poll questions in this event.

Click Image to add a background image to your poll questions.

• File Type - JPEG, JPG, PNG, BMP

Once the image has been added, choose if the question is shown on the card, light or dark mode, and card opacity.

When copying an event, poll styling will copy over.

Question Library

You can use questions you created for the Survey library in the Console Builder as poll questions.

From the Polls tab in Elite Studio, click on Add Poll, then choose Add from Question Library.

Select the question you'd like to add.  Click on the arrow to see the answer options available for this question (if any).  Then click Add Question.

Notes:

• You are not able to edit the questions in Elite Studio.  If needed, questions must be edited from the Survey library.
• Anyone logged into Elite Studio as a Producer will be able to add questions from the library.  Submit a Support ticket if you want only those with Webcast Elite logins to be able to access this feature.

Once you've created your polls, they will show in the Storyboard.  Click and drag the element to its desired location.

• When a Multi-Choice Single Answer or Multi-Choice Multiple Answer poll is created, a Poll Question element (blue) and a Poll Results element (orange) are created in the Storyboard
  • These can moved individually
  • You can hide the Poll Results element or put it at the end of your presentation and choose not to share your poll results.
• Free text, Single Answer, and NPS Rating polls only have a Poll Question element

All poll responses can be viewed in the Interactions Report.

During the Event

When the event is live, polls will be pushed out to your attendees like any other element in the Storyboard.

• For fully live events and the live portion of Sim-2-Live events, use the Previous/Next arrows to move through your Storyboard or click on the individual element in the Storyboard to push it out
• For Simu-live and on-demand events, polls will automatically push to attendees just like any other element in the Storyboard, based on when they were pushed during the recording

Previewing Poll Results

When using multiple choice poll questions, you can view the percentage of attendee responses during the live event.

When the poll question is pushed to the attendees, you can hover over the element in the Storyboard or use the Preview tool to see the results as they come in real time.

This option is available during fully live events and the live portion of Sim-2-Live events, as long as the poll result element was not hidden in the Storyboard.

Responses to all other question types can be viewed in the Interactions Report after the event.

Audience View

Depending on how you choose to display your poll questions, they will display in one of two ways when pushed to the audience:

Example audience view of Slide Window

Example audience view of Popup Window

And when using multiple choice poll questions, either single or multiple answer, you can also choose to show the poll results by pushing that element to the audience.  Results will display the same way the question did and will be displayed as a percentage of people who choose each answer.

Simu-Live Tips

You can still use poll questions during your pre-recorded Simu-live/Sim-2-Live events or On-Demand Recordings.

The setup for the poll questions is the same, but you'll want to keep the following in mind:

• When using poll questions during the recorded portion of your event, all poll questions and poll results that will be shared with the audience need audio recorded to them (can be recorded as silence).
  • The amount of audio you need to record depends on how long you want the element to display to the audience.
  • If showing the poll in the Slide area, we recommend at least 30 seconds of audio, so the audience will have enough time to respond
  • If pushing the poll in a popup window, less recording time is required since the poll will remain visible until the attendee responds or the question times out
  • If you don't record audio, the poll question/result will only be displayed for 10 seconds. This applies only to slide-by-slide recordings and does not apply when you have presenter media files or pop-ups.
• For standard Simu-lives and On-Demand Recordings - we recommend hiding the poll results in the Storyboard, so they don't show to the audience, since your presenters will not be able to speak to the results in real-time.
• For Sim-2-Live events - we recommend moving the poll results to the end of your Storyboard, so your presenters can address any questions or concerns.
