Webcast Elite offers a range of security options for controlling audience access to webcasts, including Manual Approval, Domain Filtering, HTTP Referrer, Password, and limit Registration Capacity, all managed via the Registration tab. Each security measure can be tailored to individual webcasts, ensuring only qualified audiences access the content. These settings must be configured before sharing the Audience URL and are applicable only to ON24 registration pages.

Things to Know
From the Registration tab, open Settings & Security to toggle on the security measures you want to use, then click on the security option to configure the settings.
-
The security features mentioned on this page only apply to customers using the ON24 registration page
- If you use seamless registration, integration services, or another third party to host your registration page, security should be set up through your third-party provider.
- For security measures to be effective, they must be set before distributing the Audience URL.
Manual Approval of Registrants
Manual Approval lets you approve or deny each registrant for your event, ensuring only qualified, compliant audiences can access the content.
Notes:
- Once the Manual Approval setting is enabled, it cannot be disabled.
- Test toggled events will not work with Manual Approval because there is no access to 'Manage Registrants' on test events.
- The Upload Registrants option is unavailable when the Manual Approval setting is enabled.
When toggled ON, you will need to review Manage Users under Settings & Security on the Registration tab to approve or deny registrants. Your choice will carry over when you copy an event.
All registrants will be held in Pending until reviewed, but you can click Accept or Deny. Hover over the options to see who made the change and when.
Those who register for the event will see a message on the registration page indicating that their registration is under review.
Once they've been accepted or denied, they'll receive an email based on your decision. You can edit the emails in the Email Notifications section of the event's Overview tab.
- Once the toggle is ON and registrations have been captured, this option cannot be toggled OFF
- If registrants exist and the toggle is OFF, you can enable this option - your registrants will be auto-approved
- If blocked registrants exist, they will remain denied, but will not receive an email.
Note: Reporting is currently not available for denied registrants.
Domain Filtering
Domain filtering allows you to block or allow registrants from a defined set of domains or email addresses. This setting will persist when creating a copy of a webcast.
If you want to block users from a specific domain, choose to filter by Block List and enter the domain. Example: acme.com.
- The maximum character limit is 50,000 characters.
- Specific email addresses can be added as Exceptions to the blocked domains, allowing attendees to use them to register and attend the webinar.
Alternatively, if you want to allow only users from a domain, choose the Allow Only List filter. You can add multiple domains using a comma to separate them.
Note: The Email field on the Registration tab must be set to Validate Email Address for Domain Filtering to check email domains at registration.
Create a custom message to display to registrants who are blocked by your security settings.
If a customized message is not needed, a blocked domain will receive the default message when they register - This event is currently full and is not accepting any more registrations. Thank you for your interest.
To add a custom message, choose the Custom Message radio button.
HTTP Referrer
HTTP Referrer allows you to require all registrants to access your webcast from a link on a webpage residing within the assigned HTTP referrer location.
For example, if you’re hosting an internal-only event and want attendees to access it exclusively through your home page, enter your home page URL in this field. Then, add the Audience link to your home page. Viewers will only be able to join the event from there—anyone attempting to use the Audience URL elsewhere will be blocked.
Password
Enabling a password will require your audience to enter it to register and log in to the webcast. Using this option adds a password field to both the registration and lobby pages.
You can change the label and order of the Password field in the Registration Setup section.
For registration page passwords, the maximum length is 50 characters. Alphanumeric and special characters are supported.
Note: Password protection applies to individual webcasts only.
- The password functionality will not carry over onto Event Series pages. If a password is required for the Event Series, it must be set up on the Event Series page.
- If a webcast is added to an ON24 Engagement Hub, the event is no longer password-protected, since individual webinar registration is separate from ON24 Engagement Hub registration.
Registration Capacity
Note: If attendees access the registration page from an ON24 Engagement Hub or an ON24 Target page, the Registration Capacity setting does not apply and will be bypassed.
Use Registration Capacity to limit the number of registrants who can register for a webcast on a per-webcast basis.
Enter the desired capacity in the Registration Capacity field. This setting will persist when creating a copy of a webcast.
If the registration capacity is reached before the live webinar, the registration page will be replaced with a message stating registration capacity has been reached, and the user will not be allowed to register.
Registration capacity can be changed or removed at any time and applies ONLY to live, upcoming webinars.
Toggle on Display number of remaining seats on registration page if you'd like to encourage early registration by displaying the number of remaining seats available before reaching capacity.
Note: When planning and thinking about registration and attendance for your event, there may be limits outlined in your contract. Generally speaking, if more than 5,000 attendees are expected, submit a large event request or ask your Account Manager about your specific contract limits.
Event Series Pages and Registration Capacity
When using a Event Series page that includes a webcast with a registration capacity, we recommend toggling on Display number of remaining seats on registration page. This will show the number of seats remaining on the series registration page, so registrants know if that particular event is full.
