As an alternative to recording in the Elite Studio Recording Interface, you can record your presentation offline and upload it to the system.
Things to Know
- Simu-live webcasts must be recorded and published at least two hours before the scheduled start time. Make all changes before then, including changing the start date/time, recording elements, choosing Rollover to Live audio, etc.
- Only one Presenter Video file is allowed per webcast. You can delete or replace the file as needed.
- You cannot edit your Presenter Media file in the Elite Studio Recording Interface. If you need to make edits, make them offline and re-upload the file.
- You can toggle between using Presenter Media and recording in the Elite Studio Recording Interface, but you cannot combine types.
- If you have already recorded in the Elite Studio Recording Interface, you can switch to Presenter Media.
- If you toggle Presenter Media off and back on, you will lose your custom timings. A warning prompt will appear before any timings are lost.
- If you are doing a video-only presentation, remove the Slides tool from the Audience Console and set any poll questions you use to display as pop-ups.
-
In Simu‑live and Sim‑2‑Live webinars, Presenter Media and video clips are delivered to the audience through different tools:
- Presenter Media plays in the Media Player.
- Video clips play in the Slides tool.
- When both are used in the same event, this difference affects mobile playback. Presenter Media files play normally on mobile devices, but video clips are not supported on mobile. As a result, mobile attendees will see the following message in the slide area when a video clip is played: “The video being shared is not yet supported for this device. Please stand by.”
- To ensure all video content plays on mobile devices, include it in the Presenter Media file. This requires editing your video to merge individual clips into a single file and uploading that file as Presenter Media.
- Uploading Presenter Media is one way to set up your pre-recorded events. You can also record your event in other ways. Click the links below for more information.
Pro Tip:
When recording and encoding videos for your streaming experiences, ON24 recommends choosing software that meets your current needs and can |grow wth your ambitions. While some applications (like PowerPoint or freeware) can record and export to MP4 and may seem convenient or cost-effective, they typically lack the reliability, features, and support required for professional live streaming.
Using professional video recording and editing tools not only enhances your viewers' experience but also supports your brand's reputation as a professional content creator.
Don't have professional video software? Don't worry! Let our ON24 Production pros do it for you.

These codecs are absolute necessities. MPEG4-Visual codec is not supported. (Audio and Video tracks are required even if audio is silent.) |
| Audio Format | AAC MP3 |
AAC MP3 |
AAC audio format is preferred when using H.264. MP3 audio paired with H.264 video may not play consistently in all mobile playback environments. Audio and Video tracks are required even if audio is silent. |
| Sample Rate | 48 kHz | 48 kHz | |
| Audio | 64 kbps mono | 96 kbps mono (recommended) |
32 kbps audio is the minimum. 64 kbps is standard. 96 kbps is recommended for high-quality source audio or videos with music or other special effects. (Anything over 96 kbps for a mono audio stream is unnecessary for normal speech.) |
| Frame Size |
The video clip must be a 16:9 aspect ratio. We recommend 1280 x 720 pixels/720p (or smaller) to minimize file size and bandwidth issues. |
The video clip must be a 16:9 aspect ratio. We recommend 1920 x 1080 pixels/1080p (or smaller) to minimize file size and bandwidth issues. |
If the video clip is displayed in the slide area, the frame size should match the slide area size in the audience console. |
| Bitrate |
2 Mbps / 2000 kbps Add both the audio and the video channels to get the total bitrate. Generally speaking, the higher the bitrate, the higher the bandwidth requirement for the audience. Important: Use Constant Bitrate (CBR) rather than Variable Bitrate (VBR). |
5 Mbps / 5000 kbps Add both the audio and the video channels to get the total bitrate. Generally speaking, the higher the bitrate, the higher the bandwidth requirement for the audience. Important: Use Constant Bitrate (CBR) rather than Variable Bitrate (VBR). |
Bitrate refers to the number of bits per second (bps) at which video data is delivered. The bitrate controls both file size and image and sound quality. The higher the bitrate, the better the potential quality, and the larger the file size. Use lower bitrates for international audiences or events with many users on the same network, which is more susceptible to bandwidth limitations. |

Uploading Presenter Media
To upload Presenter Media, launch the Elite Studio Recording Interface, log in as Producer, and connect to the Interface.
Open the Setup window from the Menu, click the Presenter Video icon, then choose the file from your network, or drag the file into the Elite Studio Recording Interface.
While your Presenter Video file is uploading, you can finish setting up your Storyboard.
Once the Presenter Video file is uploaded, click the toggle to ON to use it for the presenter.
Use the Replace button if you need to upload a different file.
Toggling OFF Single File presenter mode triggers a warning before any timings are lost.
Setting Marker Timings
Once you upload the presenter video file, adjust the timings for all |your makers as needed.
- Markers on the Timeline show where your individual Storyboard elements (including slide animations) will appear during the event. For example, if the marker is set at 01m30s, the element will show to the audience 1 minute and 30 seconds into the presentation.
- The markers are automatically numbered by their position in the Storyboard and are equally spaced every 30 seconds by default.
- Each marker needs an individual timecode
- You can only move a marker as far as the next one. For example, you can't move marker 3 past marker 4 on the Timeline. If you need to move one marker past another, open Setup again and rearrange the elements, then set their timings.
Notes:
- Moving or hiding Storyboard elements will not affect the downstream markers.
- Adding video clips will push the needed markers downstream only to make room for the video clip.
There are three options for setting the timings - mix and match as needed.
Option 1
Click on the marker in the Timeline and drag it to the appropriate timing. Do this for each storyboard element, including any animations. The system will automatically save the timings.
Use the play to preview.
Option 2
In the Setup tool, click on Marker Timings, then enter the timecode for the marker. The time you enter here is when the element will display to the audience. Each element must have its own timecode.
Option 3
Click Play to watch the event, then click Use Current to set when you want the element to show. You can also manually enter a timecode in the box.
Publishing the Presentation
Although the presentation file saves automatically, you must publish it once everything is set up.
Click Publish. A message will appear to confirm you want to publish.
Once publishing is complete, wait about 10 minutes, then use the Preview button in the Elite Studio Recording Interface or the Preview URL to watch your entire presentation.
You can make changes to your presentation and re-publish as many times as necessary. After you make changes, click Publish again. A message will pop up asking if you want to publish over the existing presentation. Click Continue to publish.
