Learn how to enter a Breakout Room as a presenter from Elite Studio.
Things to Know
- ON24 Breakouts was designed to facilitate a two-way conversation between the audience and a guest speaker, sales rep, product consultant, or other relevant subject matter expert during the live Webinar or Forums event. For this reason, we recommend you designate a separate Breakout moderator from the event Presenter/Producer team.
- Testing of Breakouts is not supported through the Preview URL or before the live event. We recommend creating a separate test event and rehearsing the Breakout functionality in a live event after the Start Webcast button is pressed.
- If joining a Breakout Room as a Moderator, you must join from a desktop or a laptop - joining via mobile device is only supported for those joining a Breakout Room as an attendee.
System Requirements
- Initiating screen share is not supported on the Safari web browser. If you are a moderator who needs to screen share, use a different browser (Chrome or Edge). There is no Safari limitation for attendees viewing someone else’s screen share. It is only initiating a screen share on Safari that is not supported.
- Firefox is not a supported browser for Breakout Rooms.
- Presenters running Chrome Version 99.0.4844.74 on iOS/Mac (Big Sur 11.6 and other versions) may experience an inability to screen share in Breakout Rooms (see fix below).
- If joining a Breakout Room as a Moderator, you must join from a desktop or a laptop - joining via a mobile device is only supported for those joining a Breakout Room as an attendee.
As a general best practice, close all unnecessary applications and clear your cache before logging into each event. This will improve browser performance while ensuring all recent uploads and changes are visible.

When you're ready to join the Breakout Room, click the tool menu in Elite Studio and open the Breakout Rooms tool. If the Breakout Room was configured to have a Moderator, those joining from Elite Studio will have the full functionality of a Moderator, including muting attendees and sharing a screen. Note: No access code is required when joining through Elite Studio. |
|
Presenters and Moderators will have badges displayed beside their names to indicate who is leading the Breakout Room session. | |
If no Moderator was configured, those joining from Elite Studio will have the same functionality as other attendees. |

When you leave the Breakout Room, you'll be disconnected from the room and returned to Elite Studio. Click OK to join the event again and wait for Elite Studio to reconnect. |
Joining a Breakout Room from the Audience URL
Those that will be running Breakout Rooms but are not part of the event in Elite Studio can join from the Audience URL just like an attendee. From the Audience Console, click on the name of the Breakout Room you wish to join. Choose your microphone and camera (if desired) and decide if you want your name displayed. If joining as a Moderator, enter the access code. Then click Join.
