Setting up SSO for ON24 requires several steps. This article reviews what you need, the timing, the steps, and what to expect during setup.
What You Need to Get Started
- Add SSO to your contract. Contact your CSM or Account Manager. The ON24 team cannot begin setup until SSO is added to your account.
- Assign a primary contact or team. SSO setup requires close coordination, so make sure the right stakeholders are involved.
- Choose your SSO type. Decide where SSO will be used: Elite Admin, Audience, Hub, Virtual Conference, Go Live, or a combination.
-
Prepare the required technical information. Your team must be able to provide SSO certificates, metadata, and attributes. A technical resource may be needed.
Timing
- Allow several days for implementation.
- If you have a required completion date, communicate it in advance and provide all necessary information and documents.
- Allow time for testing and communication.
-
Implementation requires action from both teams. Delays in providing clarification, certificates, or testing confirmation may delay completion.
OIDC Setup
Provide ON24 with your client ID, client secret, and discovery URI. After completing the setup, ON24 will provide a callback URL.
If you cannot share this information securely, schedule a call to provide it directly.
SAML Setup
- Submit a request to Platform Support. For instructions, see How to Submit a Support Ticket.
- Provide your metadata, attributes, and certificate. Default attributes and metadata are available in the Attributes article.
- ON24 configures the connection and provides metadata.
- ON24 creates an SSO-enabled testing workspace and provides test URLs.
- Validate the setup.
- If you used development or QA information for testing, provide your production metadata, attributes, and certificate.
- ON24 updates the connection and provides updated metadata.
-
ON24 and the client schedule a cutover call to enable SSO in the production workspace.
Testing
If you encounter an error, send screenshots that include the browser address bar. ON24 may also request a SAML trace to review the transaction. You can use the SAML-tracer Chrome extension to capture the trace.
You may also capture a HAR file. For instructions, see Capturing Troubleshooting Logs from Your Web Browser.
